Mickoski in Washington to Meet Congress Members Tenney and Self, Then on to the UN General Assembly
Talks focused on parliamentary cooperation and the strategic partnership with the US; the delegation heads to New York next.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, who is leading the government delegation on a working visit to the United States, held meetings in Washington with Congresswoman Claudia Tenney and Congressman Keith Self.
"Meeting held with Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, co-chair of the Macedonia Friendship Group in the US Congress. We discussed the traditionally strong and friendly relations between Macedonia and the United States, as well as the importance of parliamentary cooperation," Mickoski posted on Facebook, adding that commitment to the partnership and shared values remain an important foundation for future cooperation.
Besides Tenney, a Republican from New York, Mickoski also met Congressman Keith Self, a Republican from Texas who chairs the Europe Subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
From Washington the delegation continues to New York, where the prime minister will take part in this year's UN General Assembly session. "We already have confirmed meetings. We have generally focused on the neighbourhood... we will also try to hold bilateral meetings with Gulf countries, where we think we should build solid partnerships," Mickoski said before departing.
