Apasiev Asks About the Businesses of Mickoski’s Brother-in-Law, the Premier Answers “Prove It in Court”: What Each Side Said and What Is Not Confirmed
At parliamentary questions on October 14, the Levica leader made claims about firms linked to the premier’s relative; Mickoski confirmed the relationship, disputed the date of the Bulgarian passport and called the claims slander.
Levica leader Dimitar Apasiev, in Parliament on October 14, asked Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski about the businesses of his brother-in-law, Jordancho Janev. According to Apasiev, Janev is linked to at least six companies, four in Macedonia and two in Bulgaria, some with “multimillion revenues” (no figures given). He also claims a lunch for 250 guests for Strumica’s city holiday was awarded to a firm linked to Janev, and presented figures on donations to VMRO-DPMNE. All of this is his claims.
Mickoski confirmed the relationship: their wives are sisters. He disputed the date of the Bulgarian passport, saying Janev has had it since 2003, not 2017. He said Janev started with a truck and that his business has run for more than 25 years, and that earning abroad and investing in Macedonia is not a sin. He called the claims lies and slander and challenged Apasiev to repeat them before the media so they can be settled in court. Apasiev showed photos of Janev with Mickoski and with former prime minister Zoran Zaev and said Levica has documents it has not yet published.
What is not confirmed: 360 Stepeni notes that for part of Apasiev’s claims there is no confirmation, and the conflicting statements on the passport date are unresolved. In the sources we checked there is no document on the disputed procurement in Strumica and no institution that found irregularities. Nobody is charged with a criminal offense. This is a political exchange in Parliament, not established facts.
